Internet Of Things(IoT) And Its Revolution In Different Sectors

The Internet of Things, abbreviated as IoT, is the evolution of the internet, it is based on the concept of connecting anything to the internet, obviously we talk about the connection of electronic devices. Due to Internet Of Things(IoT) and its revolution in different sectors it became easy to connect objects to the internet.

Imagine a universe of intelligent products, processes and services that communicate with each other and with people through the Internet.

What Is The “Internet of Things”

Can you imagine a refrigerator that alerts you to the expiration date of the food it contains? Or that the shoes he uses to do sports record “in the cloud” the statistics of how much he runs each week and at what speed? And that the toilets analyze your urine and recommend the food diet that best suits you? What would happen if the toothbrush alerted you to any small cavities and asked for an appointment at the dentist? They are some possible applications of what is known as the “Internet of things” or “Internet of objects” (IoT), a concept that was born at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It is a revolution in the relationships between objects and people, even between objects directly, that will connect with each other and with the Network and offer real-time data. Or put another way, the digitalization of the physical world is approaching.

Thanks to the RFID (acronym for radio frequency identification , that is, ” radio frequency identification “) system, it will be enough to integrate a chip of a few millimeters into any object of the home, work or city to process and transmit information from of him constantly. It is estimated that by 2020, between 22,000 and 50,000 million devices will connect to the Internet in order to provide citizens with an unprecedented series of intelligent services and applications.

According to Hans Vestberg, CEO of Ericsson, the repercussions will be considerable: If a person connects to the network, life changes. But if all things and objects connect, it is the world that changes.

Why Is The Internet of Things Important?

You may be surprised to know how many things are connected to the Internet and how much economic benefit we can get from the analysis of the resulting data flows. These are some examples of the impact that IOT has on industries:

  • It provides information and concrete actions from the data.
  • Process and transmit information in real time.
  • It facilitates the services of citizens through intelligent applications.
  • Smart power grids more efficiently connect renewable resources, improve system reliability and charge customers based on smaller increases in use.
  • Machine monitoring sensors diagnose and predict outstanding maintenance problems, short-term parts shortages and even prioritize maintenance crew programs for repair equipment and regional needs.
  • Data-based systems in the infrastructure of “smart cities” , which makes it easier to manage waste management more efficiently.
  • Smart transport solutions accelerate traffic flows, reduce fuel consumption and prioritize vehicle repair programs.

Who Are Using The IoT?

  • Manufacturing : This is one of the industries that benefits most from IOT. Data collection sensors embedded in factory machinery or on store shelves can communicate problems or track resources in real time, which facilitates more efficient work and reduces costs.
  • Telecommunications : The IoT will significantly impact the telecommunications industry, as it will be responsible for maintaining all the data used by the IoT. Smartphones and other personal devices must be able to maintain a reliable Internet connection for the IOT to function effectively.
  • Automotive : From predictive maintenance to multimodal transport and shared mobility services, provide valuable services to the market by combining analysis with IoT data. IoT also affects transport on a larger scale: delivery companies can track their fleet using GPS solutions. And roads can be monitored through sensors to keep them as safe as possible.
  • Utilities : Smart meters not only collect data automatically, but also allow you to apply analyzes that can track and manage energy usage. Similarly, sensors in devices such as windmills can track data and use predictive models to program downtime for more efficient energy use.

What Are The Challenges IoT Faces?

The Internet of Things (IoT) presents a great opportunity to transform our lives for the better, with the potential to have an impact on the whole society.

As with many developing technologies, there is a lack of industry alignment with standards and interoperability. This can result in a loss of confidence that technology will present in the face of expectations. With IoT, as more and more devices connect to the Internet with minimal control and human intervention, security concerns also increase dramatically.

This means that manufacturers of these devices may find it difficult to obtain market acceptance and, in addition, investment can be difficult to secure.
